For this week we were asked to practice an anatomy drawing, so I decided to recreate one of my DnD characters to help me work on drawing the correct proportions of a person.
Ideas
My plan for this drawing was to start with a rough sketch of my character so I could easily map out the proportions before I started to add any clarity to my lines. Once I had a clear form, I planned to add some basic details and colour to bring some life to my drawing.
First Sketch

I originally had a version of this sketch with the lines I used to define all of the proportions, but Photoshop crashed after I had deleted the layer so I lost it. Despite this, I think that this initial sketch worked as well as I had planned. The area I think I could have improved however would be the hands as that was an area I struggled to get right.

On another layer above this, I added some basic outlines for the clothes, as well as drawing lines to help guide me when I eventually draw the face.
Adding Colour

After I had most of the line art done besides the hair and face, I decided to add some colour. I attempted to add some shading in areas like the coat, but to improve this I could’ve also applied this to other areas of the sketch too. Despite this, I think that I applied the colour well as the shades I used worked well when put together.
Final Outcome

Overall I think that this piece turned out surprisingly well, but there are some things that I could improve. For the proportions, I think I managed to draw them relatively accurately, even if the hands and lower arms do look slightly off. I think that after I had added the face and hair, the sketch looked much better but once again I could’ve added some more detail, but I like how it looks nonetheless.
